Art Boxes for Deployed Soldiers

Slidell Art House and Slidell Ladies for Liberty

At the Art House in Slidell, you can paint and decorate boxes for our deployed soldiers. Other personal art projects can be done there as well.

Some painters paint freehand, some use stencils or tracings, or stamps; all are available at the Slidell Art House. You have lots of helpful participants as well as a file of reference images, ideas and tracing paper. They have lots of materials...paint brushes, acrylic paints, permanent markers, pencils, rulers, glitter glue etc.  

Once a month the Slidell Ladies for Liberty group fill the decorated boxes with treats and supplies and then ship the boxes to our local deployed troops. If you know of a local deployed soldier, they will be glad to add them to the list to receive monthly boxes while deployed.  Click here for suggestions on decorating boxes.

Since 2014, volunteers and artists have been decorating boxes for our troops. Over the years the Slidell Art House was open for adult art classes in drawing, workshop speakers on Adobe Photoshop and Donna Dewberry painting techniques. There are summer art classes for students, as well as painting time for a Boy Scout troop to design and paint a Louisiana quilt sign for the Camp Salmen Park pavilion. Also, art time has been available for adults to work on projects of their choice, such as acrylic paintings on paper, canvas, or cypress wood, original craft projects, knitting, crochet and sewing projects.

To park in the back yard off Reilly Road, drive into the yard at the open gates. You can also park in the driveway at Thompson Rd.
